Mesa Police Department Expands Body-Worn Video Program With TASER's AXON Flex Cameras and EVIDENCE.com

SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/19/14 -- EVIDENCE.com, a business unit of TASER International (NASDAQ: TASR) today announced that the Mesa Police Department has received approval to purchase 300 AXON body-worn cameras over the next five years. The first order includes 100 cameras and a five-year subscription to EVIDENCE.com as the backend digital evidence management system as well as several docking stations that will allow officers to automatically charge and upload the their video footage after each shift.

During a one-year pilot program where the Mesa Police Department tested 50 of TASER's AXON Flex cameras they found that officers equipped with the on-officer body cameras experienced a 40% decrease in complaints and a 75% decrease in use of force complaints.

"The results from our initial body-worn camera pilot were overwhelmingly positive and we are looking forward to seeing continued success with this program as we deploy additional cameras to our officers," said Chief Frank Milstead of the Mesa Police Department. "In addition to increasing transparency and accountability, we believe our use of this technology represents a real potential for savings to the taxpayer through reduced liability claims."

"Our technology is modernizing law enforcement in cities like Mesa across the world, to allow for smarter and more efficient policing," says Marcus WomackGeneral Manager of EVIDENCE.com. "We're thrilled that we can help equip a forward looking agency like the Mesa Police Department with the latest technology in wearable cameras and next generation evidence storage solutions like Evidence.com"

TASER's AXON cameras are small, yet highly visible, and can be attached securely to sunglasses, a cap, a shirt collar, or a head mount. When recording, the cameras capture a wide-angle, full-color view of what an officer is facing. The video automatically uploads to EVIDENCE.com, a cloud-based storage and management system, where it can be easily accessed for review. An end-user cannot tamper with the video files stored online or on the AXON video camera.

EVIDENCE.com helps police capture, manage, and share their digital evidence without the complexity or cost of installing in-house servers. It enables greater transparency through seamless integration with the industry-leading AXON body-worn video cameras.
The AXON cameras have proven to protect officers from false claims, enhance public trust, improve civilian behavior, decrease litigation and make communities safer at a lower cost than in-car dashboard cameras or other video solutions.
