London Met Police Extending AXON Body-Worn Camera Pilot to Front Line Officers

SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/30/14 -- EVIDENCE.com, a business unit of TASER International, (NASDAQ: TASR) has been selected by the LondonMetropolitan Police Service (MPS) to provide another 500 AXON cameras as part of the ongoing pilot led by the Mayor's Office of Policing and Crime (MOPAC). The evidence collected from the cameras will continue to be securely stored and managed through the EVIDENCE.com platform.

As previously announced by the Company on an 8K filed on August 27, 2014, the London Met is expanding their 18-month pilot with an additional 500 cameras. Initially rolled out to 10 London boroughs, a portion of the 500 additional cameras will be deployed to firearms officers, including those of the Trojan Proactive Unit. This will be the largest body-worn camera pilot program of AXON cameras in the world with 1,000 units deployed.

During the pilot program, MOPAC and the College of Policing will assess a number of outcomes including; criminal justice outcomes, complaints against police, use of force by police, amount of time saved in administration tasks and the impact on public confidence through the use of cameras.

"As one of the leading and most respected police agencies in the world, we believe the results from the London Met pilot will help shape future body-worn camera programs as the technology is adopted in more international markets," said Jeff Kukowski, Chief Operating Officer of TASER International. "Our AXON cameras coupled with the EVIDENCE.com platform are a game-changer for law enforcement as they increase transparency, save taxpayer dollars and ultimately help make communities safer."

Metropolitan Police Service Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley who oversees the MPS pilot said: "Body-worn video is already proving its value to policing in London. Daily we hear of incidents where the presence of the camera has provided additional evidence towards solving a crime or has validated an officer's account of what has happened."

These new cameras will be deployed to uniformed firearms officers and to members of the Territorial Support Group among others to further the scope of the pilot and extend the opportunity for officers to assess their value.

TASER's AXON flex and AXON body cameras are small, yet highly visible, and can be attached securely to sunglasses, a cap, a shirt collar, shirt, or a head mount. They are powered by a pocketsize battery pack, which ensures recording capability during an entire shift. When recording, the cameras capture a wide-angle, full-color view of what an officer is facing. The video automatically uploads via a docking station to EVIDENCE.com, a cloud-based storage and management system, where it can be easily accessed for review. The video files stored online or on the AXON video camera are secure and cannot be tampered with.

EVIDENCE.com helps police capture, manage, and share their digital evidence without the complexity or cost of installing in-house servers. It enables greater transparency through seamless integration with the industry-leading AXON body-worn video cameras. EVIDENCE.com is the most secure, scalable and cost-effective solution for managing all types of digital evidence. EVIDENCE.com automates the upload process to ensure security and integrity while keeping officers in the field rather than sitting at computers.

A year-long Cambridge University blind study conducted at the Rialto, CA Police Department investigated whether officers' use of video cameras could bring measurable benefits to relations between police and civilians. The results showed an 88% reduction in citizen complaints and a 60% reduction in uses of force after implementation of TASER's AXON flex cameras.
